The S.L. Bach Position Cut®
Steve is a master lapidary, and the Position Cut is his own creation. By precisely aligning the facets above and below the girdle, it limits light leakage and returns exceptional brilliance and fire.
Steve cuts the Position Cut in natural and laboratory-grown diamonds and in fine colored stones such as sapphires and rubies, from round brilliants to fancy shapes. Each natural Position Cut stone is guaranteed to be free of physical and chemical manipulation and is in compliance with the Kimberley Process.
Special Features of the Position Cut®
The main principle of our signature Position Cut Diamond is the dynamic alignment between top and bottom facetry, creating a superior faceted girdle placement. Position Cut Diamonds produce synchronization that brings forth the unsurpassed brilliance held within each stone.
- Natural Position Cut Diamonds are never chemically or physically manipulated or altered to change the crystal or appearance.
- Each stone comes with a Position Cut Diamond grading report featuring advanced gemological orientation.
- Position Cut Diamonds are available from .20 ct – 10.0 ct.
- Position Cut Diamonds are also available in laboratory-grown diamond.
- The Position Cut is also applied to fine colored stones, including sapphires, rubies and fancy yellow diamonds.
- Position Cut Diamonds are available in round, cushion, square, cut-cornered, oval, pear, emerald cut and marquise shapes.
How It Works
1. Consultation. We meet privately, in our studio or by video, to talk about your ideas, your budget and your timeline.
2. Design. Kathy and our design team develop sketches and detailed CAD renderings, and we refine them until the design is exactly right.
3. The stone. Steve selects and cuts your stone, often a Position Cut, and shows you options in person.
4. Crafting. Our bench jewelers, most of whom have been with us for decades, set and finish every piece in house.
Meet Steve and Kathy
Steve Saitelbach is a master lapidary and the creator of the S.L. Bach Position Cut®. Kathy Saitelbach is our lead designer, the creator of the Seth & Reid Collection™, and she personally oversees every piece we make. Together with a team that has been with them for more than 30 years, they treat each commission as an heirloom in the making.
